Vietnam orders airlines to steer clear of conflict zones in Middle East

HANOI, March 4 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam's Ministry of Construction has ordered domestic airlines not to operate through Middle East airspace, which poses potential safety risks amid complicated conflicts in the region, Vietnam News Agency reported Wednesday.

The ministry instructed airlines to update information from state management agencies, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV), the International Civil Aviation Organization and relevant aviation authorities before making operational decisions, according to the report.

Airlines were also told to strengthen flight safety oversight, adjust schedules and select alternative routes to ensure the safety of aircraft, crew and passengers, while fully informing travelers of any schedule changes arising from security and safety concerns.

The CAAV was tasked with tracking regional and global security developments and issuing timely guidance.
