Chinese FM congratulates Vietnamese deputy PM, FM on 76th anniversary of bilateral ties

BEIJING, Jan. 18 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Sunday sent congratulations to Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister and the Vietnamese chair of the China-Vietnam Steering Committee for Bilateral Cooperation Bui Thanh Son, as well as Vietnamese Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung, on the 76th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral relations.

In the message to Son, Wang, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, said that China and Vietnam are both socialist countries and friendly neighbors, adding that under the strategic guidance of the top leaders of the two parties and the two countries, the China-Vietnam relations have maintained development at a high level.

Wang said that in the new year, he is willing to keep close contact with Son to earnestly implement the consensus reached between the top leaders of the two parties and the two countries, give a full play to the coordinative role of the China-Vietnam Steering Committee for Bilateral Cooperation, and deepen the bilateral exchanges and cooperation across various fields, so as to promote the building of a China-Vietnam community with a shared future that carries strategic significance in a deeper and more substantive manner.

In the message to Trung, Wang said that the building of a China-Vietnam community with a shared future is accelerating under the strategic guidance of the top leaders of the two parties and the two countries.

Both sides are actively implementing the outcomes of the state visit to Vietnam paid by Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Chinese president, in April 2025, with cooperation across various fields yielding encouraging results, Wang said.

The Chinese foreign minister said that in the new year, he is ready to maintain close communication with his Vietnamese counterpart to jointly guide the two foreign ministries to follow through on the high-level consensus of the two parties and the two countries, strengthen bilateral and multilateral coordination and cooperation, advance exchanges and cooperation across all fields in a coordinated manner, so as to promote more progress in the building of the China-Vietnam community with a shared future.
