Laos strengthens food safety to boost public health protection

VIENTIANE, Feb. 25 (Xinhua) -- Laos' Ministry of Health collaborates with its partners to strengthen surveillance, prevention, and response systems for food and alcoholic beverage safety nationwide, aiming to improve national food safety management standards and better protect consumer health.

The initiative to strengthen food safety and alcohol surveillance, prevention, and response in Laos aims to upgrade national systems for monitoring and managing food and alcoholic beverage safety.

It will enhance emergency response mechanisms, strengthen inspection capacity, and build the capabilities of central and local laboratories, Lao News Agency reported on Wednesday.

The project will also develop improved systems for communication, surveillance, treatment, and information sharing, while establishing a coordinated national framework, it added.
