Vietnam's retail sales, service revenues up 9.3 pct in January

HANOI, Feb. 10 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam's total retail sales of goods and consumer services were estimated at 632.4 trillion Vietnamese dong (about 24.4 billion U.S. dollars) in January, up 9.3 percent year on year, Vietnam News Agency reported Tuesday, citing the National Statistics Office.

The office noted that the favorable start in January has laid a solid foundation for the trade and services sector to achieve its economic growth targets for the whole year.

Among the segments, travel and tourism services recorded the strongest growth, reaching 7.5 trillion Vietnamese dong (about 290 million dollars) during the period, up 14 percent year on year, the office said.
