Vietnam to establish national data development fund

HANOI, June 30 (Xinhua)-- The Vietnamese government will set up a national data development fund with an initial budget of 1 trillion Vietnamese dong (approximately 38.3 million U.S. dollars), Vietnam News Agency reported Monday.

The non-profit fund aims to support the development and application of technologies such as artificial intelligence, big data, machine learning, cloud computing and blockchain.

It will also prioritize data initiatives related to national defense, security, foreign affairs and other strategic sectors.

The fund will be managed by the Ministry of Public Security, the report said.
