Cambodia earns 14.83 bln USD from exports of garments, footwear in Jan-Nov

PHNOM PENH, Dec. 23 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia exported garments, textiles, shoes, and travel goods worth 14.83 billion U.S. dollars in the first 11 months of 2025, a year-on-year increase of 17 percent, said an official report on Tuesday.

Garments worth 10.46 billion dollars were exported during the January-November period this year, a year-on-year rise of 17 percent, said the report compiled by the Ministry of Commerce, adding that textiles worth 618 million dollars were shipped to international markets, up 36 percent.

Furthermore, 1.9 billion dollars worth of footwear were exported, up 26 percent, while travel goods and bags worth 1.85 billion dollars were sold to international markets, up 3.7 percent, the report added.

The garment, textile, footwear, and travel goods industry is the largest foreign exchange earner for the Southeast Asian country.

The sector currently consists of more than 1,500 factories and branches, employing over 900,000 workers, mostly women, according to the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training.

Thong Mengdavid, a lecturer at the Institute for International Studies and Public Policy of the Royal University of Phnom Penh, said the double-digit growth signaled Cambodia's effective market diversification beyond its traditional partners.

"This upward trend is likely to continue into 2026, supported by external demand and new investment inflows from China, South Korea and Japan," he told Xinhua.
