HANOI, Dec. 17 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam's southern hub Ho Chi Minh City is stepping up its transition to electric buses, aiming to raise the share of electric vehicles in its public bus fleet to 45.3 percent by early 2026 as part of efforts to curb emissions, local daily Nhan Dan reported Wednesday.
Under its roadmap, the city is expected to put an additional 454 electric buses into service, paving the way for a fully electric public bus system by 2030, the report said.
According to the municipal Department of Construction, excluding budget funding for charging station investments, the city will require more than 2.2 trillion Vietnamese dong (about 87.5 million U.S. dollars) to carry out the vehicle transition roadmap.
