HANOI, Nov. 10 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam exported more than 206,400 tons of pepper worth 1.39 billion U.S. dollars in the first ten months of this year, the Vietnam News Agency reported Monday, citing the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association.
Despite a 5.9 percent year-on-year decline in export volume over the period, export value rose 25.4 percent, the report said.
Average prices reached 6,628 U.S. dollars per ton for black pepper and 8,683 U.S. dollars per ton for white pepper, up 36.6 percent and 34.4 percent, respectively, from the same period last year.
The United States remained the largest market for Vietnamese pepper, with 44,262 tons, followed by the United Arab Emirates and China.
