HONG KONG -- Hong Kong's Center for Health Protection (CHP) reported five new imported cases of COVID-19 on Monday, taking the total tally to 12,466.
The newly reported cases all involved mutant strains. A total of 60 cases have been reported in the past 14 days and all were imported, according to the CHP. (Hong Kong-COVID-19-Update)

PREY VENG -- Cambodia on Monday inaugurated a Chinese-built 96.5-km-long and 11-meter-wide National Road No. 11, linking Prey Veng and Tboung Khmum provinces in the country's southeastern region.
The road was developed by China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC) under a concessional loan from the Chinese government, and it took 30 months to complete, about 14 months earlier than scheduled. (Cambodia-China-National Road)

BANGKOK -- Thailand said Monday that the country has found its first case of Omicron variant of COVID-19 after confirming that a U.S. visitor arriving from Spain tested positive.
The 35-year-old traveler, flying from Spain by transiting through Dubai, entered with a negative RT-PCR test, but on-arrival test returned a positive result on Dec. 1 and further test results confirmed the presence of the new Omicron strain, the Ministry of Public Health announced Monday. TALUQAN -- Police have arrested a man on a charge of killing a child in Afghanistan's northern Takhar province, local official Mawlawi Ansarullah Ansari said Monday.
A child was killed in Rustaq district of Takhar province four days ago and police arrested the alleged murderer on Sunday, the official added. (Afghanistan-Killing-Arrest)
