VIENTIANE, Oct. 26 (Xinhua) -- The Lao Ministry of Health has urged people countrywide to stay vigilant and strictly comply with the COVID-19 prevention measures.
Authorities and the Lao people must remain vigilant and abide by measures adopted by the National Taskforce Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control, Deputy Director General of the Department of Communicable Disease Control under the Ministry of Health Latsamy Vongkhamsao told a press conference in Vientiane on Monday.
Latsamy advised people to adapt to the "new normal" to prevent a second wave of COVID-19.
The National Taskforce Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control has urged everyone to regularly wash their hand with soap. People must also continue to practice social distancing.
Some 949 people entering Laos through international border checkpoints on Sunday and the temperature of each person was checked before being taken to quarantine centers.
A total of 3,080 people have been quarantined at 33 accommodation centers across the country for 14 days, according to the report.
As of Monday, 63,749 suspected cases have been tested in Laos with 24 positive cases, and 22 recovered patients have been discharged from hospitals.
Laos detected its first two COVID-19 cases on March 24.
