BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya, Dec. 6 (PIA) - Farmers here are expected to be given assistance by the Department of Agriculture-Agricultural Credit Policy (DA-ACPC) in partnership with the Land Bank of the Philippines (LBP).
Governor Carlos Padilla said that 1,500 farmers in the province will be benefited by the Expanded Survival and Recovery Assistance Program for Rice Farmers (SURE Aid Program) by the DA-ACPC and LBP.
"Validation of farmer-beneficiaries are now being done by Municipal Agriculture Officers (MAOs) in our municipalities to facilitate the release of assistance through a cash card. This is timely considering the effect of the Rice Tariffication Law among our farmers," he said.
The SURE Aid Program aims to assist the rice farmers whose incomes were affected by the drop in the farm gate price of palay.
Under the program, a one-time loan assistance of P15,000.00 each for a farmer with a one hectare and below at 0% interest rate payable for eight years.
The LBP will administer the P1.5 billion fund from the DA-ACPC for the lending program.
DA-accredited service conduits will also be tapped by LBP which will also disburse loans to eligible beneficiaries especially in unbanked and unserved areas.
The following number of farmers and their respective municipalities will be benefited by the DURE Aid Program: Alfonso Castaneda - 49, Ambaguio - 53, Aritao - 129, Bagabag - 89, Bambang - 113, Diadi - 101, Dupax del Norte - 245, Dupax del Sur - 61, Kasibu - 147, Kayapa - 92, Quezon - 75, Sta.
