DAGUPAN CITY, Sept. 18 (PIA) - Eleven towns in Pangasinan have declared class suspension today, September 18 (Wednesday) due to inclement weather condition being experienced in the province brought by Tropical Depression Nimfa.
Classes in both public and private schools are suspended in the towns of Aguilar, Bugallon, Mangatarem and Urbiztondo in all levels.
In the municipalities of Basista, Bayambang, Mangaldan and Rosales, classes are canceled from pre-school to senior high school while the towns of Asingan, Bautista and San Quintin have class suspension from pre-school to elementary.
The municipalities of Balungao and Sual also issued a half day suspension of classes from pre-school to senior high school.
The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office enjoined the public to be more vigilant against fake news and to trust only announcements of class suspensions that come from official channels.
Meanwhile, the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) deferred the scheduled 11-hour power interruption (from 7a.m. to 6p.m.) in parts of Pangasinan today.
"The maintenance works affecting parts of Central Pangasinan Electric Cooperative (Malasiqui, San Carlos City, Binmaley, Lingayen, Bugallon, Mangatarem and Urbiztondo substation) are deferred due to inclement weather," said NGCP Regional Communications and Public Affairs Officer Ernest Lorenz Vidal in a text message to PIA.
"We will issue another advisory once the new schedule has been finalized," he said. (JCR/AMB/PIA Pangasinan)
