Musharraf angers Parliamentary Affairs Minister

The Pakistan Parliamentary Affairs Minister Babar Awan has told the Dawn newspaper that any court warrant against former President General Pervez Musharraf would be executed.

Awan has said: "If a Pakistani court issues any warrant against Musharraf we will not become an obstruction in its way. Rather we will execute it."

Making a commitment to the National Assembly, Awan condemned Musharraf for recent remarks against President Asif Ali Zardari, in which Musharraf called Zardari "a criminal and a fraud."

Musharraf told US journalist Seymour Hersh: "He’ll do anything to save himself. He’s not a patriot and he’s got no love for Pakistan. He’s a third-rater."

Awan said such statements were unworthy of a reply but that the noose around Musharraf was likely to be tightened.
