Karachi travellers killed in train crash
Laos News.Net Tuesday 3rd November, 2009
Many women and children have been killed in a train collision near the southern Pakistani port city of Karachi.
More than 45 people have been injured.
Officials have reported that out of 14 deaths, three children and three women, were killed in the accident which saw the Karachi-bound Allama Iqbal Express collide with a freight train.
The accident occurred when the passenger train slammed into the freight train in the suburbs of Karachi.
Most bodies and survivors have now been taken from the wreckage of the passenger train, although police suspect more bodies might be found trapped in twisted wreckage.
It has been alleged by railway officials that the driver of the passenger train ignored a traffic signal before the collision. Email this story to a friend
