Kitakyushu wins water project in Cambodia+

KITAKYUSHU, Japan, March 9 (AP) - (Kyodo)-;The municipal government of Kitakyushu, Fukuoka Prefecture, said Wednesday it has won a water purifying project in Cambodia. Under the 14 million yen joint project with Yokohama-based Hamagin Research Institute, the Kitakyushu government will design the water purifying plant in Siemreab, known for the ancient Angkor Wat temple. The project is part of the Japan International Cooperation Agency's loan program in the region. The city of Kitakyushu has become the first Japanese municipality to get an order in the overseas water business. In the Cambodian city, water supply capacity remains insufficient in the face of increase in its population and visitors.
